Taiko @ Arcadia 2010 (success!!!!)
Hi everyone, it's been a while since I'd last came in here. Anyway good news - Arcadia will be hosting the second Taiko no Tatsujin competition! Expect the competition format to be very similar to the Jubeat competition earlier this year. Tentative details listed as below:
Date: June 1-17 (qualifiers), 20 (finals)
Time: TBA
Venue: Arcadia, Iluma Lv5
Competition format (tentative)
1. Top 32 participants will qualify for the finals
2. These 32 finalists will be split into the following categories: 大達人 (top , 達人 (9th-16th), 鉄人 (17th-32nd)
3. Finals format is single KO
4. Pairings will be randomized
Not sure what else to post (my head is still woozy from the flu medicine), so if you have any questions, feel free to post them here!

Re: Taiko @ Arcadia 2010 (success!!!!)
I will be passing, sadly. Have to go overseas from the 18th to 22nd June. Which is sad.
But I'll just play in the qualifiers for fun. Just kick me out of the qualifiers after that since I won't be coming for the finals? Won't have time to train though so I'll rely on my instincts.
Regarding that, ck, I may be able to help with some of the planning since I won't be joining the finals, for sure.
EDIT: I booked the ticket liao, confirm will be away from 18th to 22nd June... You guys have fun. I'll pop in during the qualifiers though to have a shot and see.

I'll be there... Wait we're planning to attract more than 32 people? Yays...
Question though, 大達人 (top Cool, 達人 (9th-16th), 鉄人 (17th-32nd)...
Each set plays different songs?

Re: Taiko @ Arcadia 2010 (success!!!!)
Yeah, there'll be like a "cap" for each category. The top, of course they will play harder songs.
But as for the 鉄人, they'll play songs capped at a lower level to suit their level.
Don't worry though, we won't ask you to play 9* or 10* in the qualifiers, after all, we're appealing to the public. Level caps are still in discussion I believe.

aiyo. so fast post. omg. prize all this also haven confirm. i'll update you again. date also not confirm de. only rough discussion only.
..
..
that's what we planning. but my bosses still haven say yes.
Eloise Tan May 8 at 11:03pm
ok. sure. it's pending.
Erm CK,
I understand your enthusiasm but erm.. why is this announced officially everywhere in TaikoDojo when nothing's been approved?
As of today, 8th May 2010,
It's still not approved by Arcadia yet.
Even if it's going to be approved, shouldn't it be posted and announced officially only after everything's set?

Re: Taiko @ Arcadia 2010 (success!!!!)
1. The details put up are tentative; I never said that the details were confirmed.
2. I put it up because I want to give people an advance notice of what's coming so they have time to plan, simple.
3. Contrary to what you think, I'm not very enthusiastic because I have more important things to attend to (e.g. work), so if you'd like to take over, I'll be more than happy to let you do so.

Re: Taiko @ Arcadia 2010 (success!!!!)
Hey ck,
I didn't meant to stress you more on top of your work etc, cos' i thought you like organizing events that's why i told Eloise to find you and set a date for us to discuss. It's quite a sudden to me that tkdj's FB and here stated that Arcadia will be hosting 2nd taiko competition. Will be hosting sounds like a confirm to me, which i don't have a clue that they will.
I'm sure quite a few of us are working adults. I have to juggle work, studies, exams and other commitments. Everyone, including you, has their very own important things too. But all of us, like you, spare some of their busy time which makes tkdj going. =)
Eloise said you're too kan chiong to post (enthusiastic perhaps?). So I thought you're enthusiastic about it, which is a good thing, haha, don't get me wrong, I didn't mean anything bad, just feel it's slightly too early because it's not approved.
And I'm not saying who should take over etc, whoever take over doesn't even matter to me. What I'm looking for is at least some information which I can answer to some of them when they ask me. A few of them asked me and I'm totally blur blur about what's happening. Kinda not sure what to answer them & paiseh you see. ^-^ll
If you're really busy with your important things, will you still be willing to be part of this? I can ask the rest to take over if you're not enthusiastic about it.

Re: Taiko @ Arcadia 2010 (success!!!!)
Truth is I'd rather take a backseat this time, seeing as I don't have as much time as I used to have. I can chip in here and there with ideas and suggestions, but I probably won't be able to find one day to properly sit down and talk.
Actually the reason why I posted it so early is really like what I said, the rules are so similar to the Jubeat competition that I guess most of us here shouldn't have trouble trying to grok them, so earlier is better. Don't forget that not everyone logs in to the forum/Facebook everyday, you need to give them ample time to not just plan, but to practice, right?
Maybe I shouldn't have jumped the gun yet, but yeah, at least we have to get the community hyped up again, which is the most important right now.

Re: Taiko @ Arcadia 2010 (success!!!!)
I see I see, do you want to be the facilitator this time round and I'll ask the rest to take it over from here onwards?
Because in this case, you can still can chip in here and there with ideas and you won't be asked down for few meetings etc etc. So being a facilitator won't take much time for your case if you're busy with your commitments. Also, this can be an opportunity to let some of them experience the toughness to handle such competitions if they're responsible for taking up such a project. I have few others in mind if you're taking a backseat.
So if you're okay with it, i'll proceed to ask others to take over, but if you're willing to continue, i'll hand it to you. =)

Re: Taiko @ Arcadia 2010 (success!!!!)
Hi guys!
I finally got the final answer from Arcadia around midnight on 21st May. Sorry for the late announcement. The competition's officially approved.
The competition qualifying format's gonna be similar to jubeat competition.
Only one Taiko Machine will be set to $3 for 2 plays to be used for the qualifying rounds.
Music level will be increased.
REGISTRATION IS FREEEEEEEEEEEEE~
Just go down physically and fill in your name for the application form and this form will be used to record your scores, Don't Need to pay extra~
In other words, you play the same 4 songs two times (cos' $3 for 2 plays). Then out of these two times, the higher total score will be recorded. Meaning, 1st round you play the 4 songs, you get XXX score, then 2nd round you play the same 4 songs again, you get YYY score. Then XXX score is higher, it will be officially recorded.
As for the date, it MIGHT be pushed back 1 week later.
Details of the finals will be published again.
So meanwhile, stay tune!!
@Sky,
You can wear whatever you want cos' you'll gonna be the MC for this comp. You can also choose not to wear anything. Hahahaha~

If it falls on Saturday (19 Jun - 07 Aug)... 0% chance going.
If it falls on Sunday (20 Jun onwards)... depends on how evil NDP Rehearsal is.

Re: Taiko @ Arcadia 2010 (success!!!!)
Songs are set by the event organizer/committee (To be fair in scoring wise). Suppose they will announce the song before event starts.
And yes, you can play as many times you want during the qualifier. The highest score would be recorded down. (But don't hog can already)
Those who took part in the Jubeat competition, it's the same layout.

Haha, yeah, you can play till you're satisfied with your score. =)
And details of the 4 songs will only be released on the day itself, that's 7th June.
Right now still nothing yet.
xD
@Gias,
haha, i seriously think there won't be much people hogging the machine sia..
Cos' imo, anyone playing one time already can get into the top 32 liaoz. xD
