Popularity of Songs

This thread is dedicated to the POPULARITY of Songs and questions regarding them.

Popularity of songs, as depicted in the game as Ren qi in chinese, determines which songs have most people selecting it, and lists down the top 10 from each level of difficulty.

You may post the popularity of songs in your area, and post any questions regarding them here.

*Note: This thread is entirely different from favourite taiko songs. Even if a song is your favourite it might not be in the popularity chart. So its not a duplicate thread. Made this thread because this was going on in another thread "off-topic". (Part of ck/pyro's plan to make this place a better one. and its working since im making this)

I'll start off.
The top 3 in my area for oni are:
1st: HareHareYukai
2nd: Koibumi2000
3rd: Hei Chuan

I have a question though. Does popularity work by the total no. of people selecting that song throughout the game's existence(without reset), example:

Hare Hare Yukai Total No. Selected: 358
Bumblebee Total No. Selected: 200

So harehareyukai is more popular.

Or does it work by the average popularity among everyday?
Example:

Monday

HareHareYukai 5 times
Bumblebee 1 times

Tuesday

HareHareYukai 9 times
Bumblebee 10 times

Wednesday

HareHareYukai 8 times
Bumblebee 9 times

Total of 3 days:
HareHareYukai 22 times
Bumblebee 20 times

HareHareYukai is played more, but because bumblebee has a higher popularity of 2 days to one for harehareyukai, bumblebee is more popular. does it possibly work that way?

If i'm not wrong, it might be the number of times being played per day.
Cos' i remember one song with have no popularity, when to like some position after we play on that day.

but no matter what, the popularity thingy is actually to attract people to try out those songs. publicity gimmick.

but its fun to see the songs move thru the charts though.

Especially when a particular song is played a few times, then it moved up to no.1

its harder to do that if youre in jp unless your song is ALREADY in top 10.

I think it's the number of people and the number of times being played?

i also think its the no. of times being played, but it doesnt seem so leh. when seasons of asia drop so rapidly to songs that are hardly played.

At DTE, no. 1 song is DORAEMON! Does that say anything about the crowd there?

YES IT DOES LOL>! DORAEMON is second here! ARRHHH but lian-ai ing is first. i dont know why too but yeah. 3rd is two tigers. -_- liang zhi lao hu.

Mayday is quite popular in Singapore, and Lian Ai ING has a catchy beat to it. That could explain it.

I admit I'd always have a crack at the song everytime I go.

from what I saw today, the popularity of songs is at best, random. because when I was playing, I swore seasons of asia and dragon spirit switched places without me touching any of them. or at least I think. and I highly doubt it's by the no. of times you play. case in point: motteke sailor fuku is now top 10 in jp, though me and blyx hardly touch it the last time and I very very highly doubt anyone else is addicted to the song to whack it(yes I'm addicted to it. but that's for another post.)

Did the taiko japanese blog wrote anything about this topic?

Actually, in my humble opinion (imho), the popularity of songs cannot be really judged if you do not stay in the arcade long enough to really see how many times different person/same person plays the song. When I say stay long enough, it means not just the taiko time (the time you are playing taiko), taiko waiting time (the time you wait to play taiko) or the short taiko time you just see players play the song, if you don't feel like playing that day. My "long" here means one whole day or one whole week between the opening and closing hours. Even if you guys can do, it is a waste of time and also you may frighten people playing the songs. If you really want to check the popularity very desperately, maybe you can ask one of the counter staffs in X-zone to periodically monitor the taiko machine for a week? It may be a stupid idea, but nevertheless, a suggestion.

totally agreed. I noticed that the songs were like No.1, No.2 No. 3 etc in the song list but when it's advertised out, it's all those children songs and chinese songs.
