Taiko December

Since this hasn't been finalized as an event(s), I'm putting it here for discussion.

Apparently the last competition we had was very successful - so said Arcadia, although I still have my reservations. Anyway, I have plans to build on the idea, or "ride the hype" as Adrian put it. It's impossible to organize any sort of event from now until December 6 because of the various exams (prelims, GCE, university, JLPT), so I want to have events on every Saturday in December.

Ideas currently floating in my mind include:
- 太鼓のアイドル (check it in a dictionary if you don't know what it means, hahaha )
- A bigger taiko competition (with hopefully better prizes?)
- An organized 游戏玩法 session

Of course, you're free to throw in more ideas - it's alright even if they're ridiculous, since this is for brainstorming.

If it's a bigger taiko competition, then this time round we'll have doubles/team category. To make it more fun, we "draw" our team mates and no one is to complain team mate if they lose the competition. haha~

As for the taiko idol, those who can get the most attention and votes from public will win. (If that's feasible to involve public participation)

Organized 游戏玩法 session, with kyon's cosplay of the taiko characters. Haha

Also, for those who are into double drums, we can have a "Double drums showdown" or something along that line. =P

Adding on to my ideas:

Taiko idol
Rough idea: individual or team of up to 4 persons. You can have 1-player-1-drum, 1-player-2-drums, 2-player-1-drum...anything that you can come up with You can even jazz up your drum performance with stylish actions, attractive costumes, or even complement it with a side item (like a dance? )!

In short, let your creativity loose here!

@Yuu: Your idea of a double-drum showdown belongs here, I think.

Organized 游戏玩法 session
It would most likely be part of a "taiko variety show" - throw in a talk show, throw in some performances by the champion of the last competition *cough cough* etc...

Taiko competition #2
Bigger means there will be additional categories - doubles could be one, but probably not random pairing (see how things go). Other ideas for additional categories/events could be a kids-only event, a who-can-do-the-most-renda event etc.

Other ideas
...which are floating around in my head include:
- Discount Day (simple, and bound to draw people to play)
- Inviting a real taiko group to come perform (I could try to ask around, haha)

This is meant to be a brainstorming session, so say anything you want

Rather than a kids only event why not make it according to levels? Secondary Poly etc etc...?

this one must show gepi.. even this kind of style can play kurenei.. ask him to perform like this also when the day comes for the competition.. xD

Here's an update: there's 70% chance of a bigger taiko competition in December!

Some random points from my notebook:
* Reg fee $3-5 hopefully!
* Low reg fee = reverting back to individual event, but maybe will have side-events too
* Most likely Dec 26-27, since I have performances in Dec also
* Hope to have 24-32 players, more is good!

Just asking, which taiko are we going to use? I heard from Kyon on saturday about taiko 12.5 being at iluma already....

That one I don't like, makes it a must to memorise.... cannot pass if never memorise.... angel dream as long as in front mostly correct at the back anyhow spam also pass, but mori no kumasan(just watched on youtube) gets faster at the last part until the part where you can no longer see and still haven't pass....

Say, if dec 26-27, it's the End of Year event and i guess quite a number of people won't be joining if you set that date.
Sorry for not log-ing in for a couple of weeks. Been busy for my psych exams.
