Inner Oni - How?

Ummm I know you're meant to hit the drum 20 times or something to unlock it but how do you do it for any given song? Someone explain to me.

you mean the temporary oni phase applicable only to some songs? you just hit it 21 times total alternate sides for any drum before you start the game. refer to yuu's sticky thread. once applied has effect to all applicable songs only. only certain songs are applicable for this, some are made to be easier when played with two drums(double drum custom-made), some are hardere etc.
